Kasha SingerKasha is a world renowned American R&B, soul and pop singer and song composer. Kasha has been honoured with prestigious National and International awards for being the best artist to grabbing the best song of excellence.

Kasha was first drawn to music at the tender age of five when she performed in the choir at Brooklyn’s St. Luke’s Church.

This passion did not leave her when she was in school too. From Junior High to High School, Kasha became the lead singer of the glee club, which according to Kasha herself, was the beginning of a journey in the musical world where she was destined to reach greater heights.

Kasha was very close to her mother, who had actually been the inspiration behind Kasha taking to music and constantly motivated her to follow her dreams. However, at the very tender age of 14, Kasha lost her mother and that unfortunate tragedy devastated her.

Kasha’s mom was the backbone and the main support system for the family. In these challenging times, Kasha’s elder sister, Tamiko stepped up and took up the mantel of raising Kasha and her little brother. She ensured that both her brother and Kasha never strayed off the righteous path and guided them till they were adults. Kasha, however, old enough to grieve her monumental loss, had fallen into a deep state of depression upon her mother’s death and it took quite some time for her to finally be able to come out of it. Her mother was everything to her, friend, philosopher and guide.

However, Kasha’s resolve and her dedication towards music was staggering and as the saying goes, the tragedy only made her stronger. She immediately set off on the long journey towards achieving her goal to become the top most artist with her mother firmly set in her heart and soul.

At 16, Kasha began to educate herself about the music industry, going to the library and reading up on trademarks, copyrights and all the behind-the-scenes aspects of the music business.

She took up the membership of the ASCAP and made it a point to attend the weekly meetings to advance on her education about the music industry. As a result, she now has her very own publishing and writer’s position at ASCAP.

Kasha’s very first single, “Leaving You”, released in 2004 as a part of the compilation Album received decent airplay on New York City’s KISS-FM. The single was also a huge sit and was sold wildly in all of Harlem’s retail chains.

Singer KashaThis song was first performed at the release party at Harlem’s State Building. The community came out in huge numbers to support this project. An entire community coming out in support of an artist was unheard of before, and this was a huge moment for Kasha.

The unique quality about Kasha that made her stand out from the rest was her ability to be optimistic at all times.

Subsequently, her other singles released included, “I Want You”, remixed by Todd Terry and the current blockbuster, “Hero”, “Shake Your Body”, “King of my Castle” and “Song Called Brother”.

In order to take control of her career, Kasha launched her own publishing company, Kasha Entertainment, duly registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
