Kathleen Kerner among five honored with 2024 Compassionate Counsel distinction
BALTIMORE, MD, February 29, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Jenner Law, P.C.‘s Kathleen (“Katie”) Kerner has been named to the 2024 class of Compassionate Counsel honorees. Now in its second year, this distinction is awarded annually by The Milestone Charitable Foundation to a select group of trial lawyers across the country who are innovative in their pursuit of justice.
Compassionate Counsel recipients are selected by The Milestone Foundation’s board for their unwavering commitment to the tenets of the Seventh Amendment and belief in the fundamental right to justice. These trial lawyers work tirelessly to help victims of civil injustices receive their rightful compensation and avoid additional harm or trauma throughout the course of their lawsuit. They see their clients as worthy of respect, see access to fair funding and financial support as a right and look out for their clients’ well-being well beyond settlement.
“Katie’s trauma-informed approach to serving her clients really stood out when we were reviewing nominations for 2024 Compassionate Counsel honorees,” said Mike Volpe, executive director of The Milestone Foundation. “She has been described as both patient and empathetic, two qualities we place great emphasis on at The Milestone Foundation.”
Receiving this award is a testament to her unwavering dedication to fostering a compassionate relationship with her clients, and all the while fiercely fighting for their rights against soulless insurance companies. Katie recently completed an intensive trauma and cognitive interview course at The Center for Hope in Baltimore. Respected and honored by her peers, Katie is the newly appointed Chair of the Sexual Abuse Section of the Maryland Association for Justice. In addition, she is coming off a recent $1.2 million bench verdict on behalf of a traumatized therapy patient in Indiana.
