Surtis demand daily flights to Mumbai

SURAT: Individuals from We Want Working Airport at Surat (WWWAS) have begun a postcard battle to press for their requests for getting every day flights from Surat to Mumbai, Delhi.

After the SpiceJet twisting up its operations from Surat taking after the buffalo-hit incident in November last year, there are just three flights from Surat to Delhi in a week worked by Alliance Air, airlines partner of Air India. Recently, the Diamond Aeronautics Limited (DAL), a company floated by diamond barons, started daily chartered flights from Surat to Bhavnagar.

The WWWAS individuals have chosen to send around 30,000 postcards in the following couple of days to the chairman and managing director of Air India Limited, Rohit Nandan requesting day by day flights from Surat to different destinations including Mumbai and Delhi.

Sources said that in an answer under open grievance to one of the individuals from WWWAS on Thursday, the Air India illuminated that they don’t have assets to arrange day by day flight from Surat to Delhi and Mumbai. Air India may plan to work flights from Surat as asked for subject to accessibility of assets regarding air ship, cockpit, lodge team and business suitability of the operations.
